Second-Time Lucky. Biofilms Research Leads to Relief of Folliculitis Symptoms.

Retired Service Manager David E. searched everywhere for a solution to his folliculitis condition. His research and perseverance finally paid off.

He found a product that works.

“I’ve had folliculitis for 15-20 years,” said David, who resides in the warm climate of the southeastern U.S. “I’ve tried everything from antibiotics to antimicrobials without success. I’ve been going to a dermatologist my whole life. They prescribe antibiotics, but they’re expensive, and as soon as you stop using them the problem comes back, so I decided to do more research.”

What is Folliculitis?

Folliculitis is a common skin condition that occurs when a hair follicle becomes infected or inflamed. Most often caused by Staphylococcus aureus (staph) bacteria, it can also be caused by viruses and fungi. Generally uncomfortable and itchy, folliculitis can also have a psychosocial impact due to its appearance, which is similar to acne. Many people spend years looking for a satisfactory remedy, just as David did.

Discovering Biofilms

“This time I really knuckled down to try to get rid of it,” said David. “I found a few communities online about folliculitis that were extremely helpful, one on Facebook and the other on Reddit. That’s where I learned about the formation of biofilms and how they build a sticky structure over the bacteria that can prevent you from getting rid of conditions like folliculitis. It sounded like there was something to it based on the science, so I Googled it.”

David’s search led him to discover DermaKB shampoo and scalp detoxifier, which uses primarily natural and naturally derived ingredients to eliminate biofilms and help reduce the symptoms associated with common skin conditions.

“I thought it would be worth a try,” said David. “I ordered it and tried it for a few weeks, but I didn’t see any difference, so I put it back in my closet and basically forgot about it. I just thought, ‘Well there goes another one.’ But I had these bumps that kept forming, so I decided to give it another try, leaving it on longer.”

Second-Time Lucky!

“When I first used it, I only left the detoxifier on for 10 minutes,” said David. “It can get hot where I live, and I have oily skin, so this time I prewashed my hair with the shampoo and let it dry. Then I put the detox on and really worked it into my scalp. I left it on for 30 minutes and it was like ‘Wow!’ I could feel the difference. I mean, I could really feel it working. Instantly.

“I went back to the DermaKB page on biofilms to see if I could figure out what it was doing, how it was breaking down the biofilms, so I could better understand what I was feeling. It made an incredible difference, and it’s still working.”

Safety Questions Answered

Because he was leaving the detoxifier on longer than indicated in the instructions, David decided to email DermaKB creator Kane Biotech Inc. and ask if it was safe to leave it on for longer than the recommended 10 minutes. He received a reply back from Dr. Gordon Guay, Chief Scientific Officer at Kane Biotech.

“I just want to confirm for you that leaving the products on your skin for 30 minutes is completely safe,” said Guay. “Our coactiv+ technology is based on a patented formula of chelating agents that disperse biofilms and are regarded by the FDA as GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe).

“They have also been confirmed as safe through HRIPT (Human Repeat Insult Patch Test) testing and the Canadian Dermatology Association has evaluated our detoxifier as meeting the criteria of its Skin Health Program. So, depending on the severity of your condition and how long you’ve had it, the longer the resonance time the better. It is also acceptable to use our products on other body parts. Just be sure to follow any warnings identified on product labels.”

Tickled with Results

David plans to keep using a combination of the DermaKB shampoo and scalp detoxifier until he finds the perfect complementary use match.

“The product is easy to use, it doesn’t look medicinal at all, and there’s no smell,” said David. “I just gave it clean, dry skin to work on, and left it on for that little extra time. Maybe the biofilms had just built up to the point where they were impenetrable. All I know is that since I’ve been using it, everything has improved tremendously.

“I’m just tickled with the results.”
